  2. Verify Email: Complete the verification via the email sent to your inbox.
  3. Log In: Access the application dashboard.
  4. Complete Application: Answer all 8 sections and upload a photo of your child for their Test Admission Ticket.
  5. Submit: Ensure you select 'Submit' and receive a confirmation email. Saving is not the same as submitting.

New Placement Rules from 2026

Starting from the 2026 testing cycle, the Department of Education has introduced stricter rules based on location and residency:

  • NSW-Only Testing: The placement test will only be held in NSW. Interstate or overseas students must return to NSW to sit the test at a designated centre. No alternative interstate locations will be provided.
  • Residency Requirement: Students and their families must be living in NSW by the beginning of the school year of entry (January 2027). You may apply even if you don't meet this yet, but you must meet it before a placement offer is made.
  • Aurora College: Rural and remote students can apply for Aurora College (Virtual Selective School) if they attend or intend to enrol in an authorised host school.

Next Steps for Preparation

The placement test is highly competitive and covers Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Writing. Consistent practice with simulated, computer-based tests is the most effective way to prepare. At TestWise, our platforms mirror the official testing environment to build your child's confidence.
